A silent film directed by Cecil Hepworth and Percy Stow and the first movie adaption based on Lewis Carroll’s book. Only one copy of the original film exists to date, and parts of it are lost. The British Film Institute has partially managed to restore the movie and its original colours. To actually imagine the use of special effects and vanguard techniques over 100 years old is incredible. This is truly a 9 minute wonder!
In occasion for Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77 World Tour; Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo, Bennet Pimpinella & Simone D’Arcangelo will present a preview of the short movie “Domino” and the new single carrying the same name for the Bloody Beetroots’ project. DOPOLAVORO GOLAB & ERA STUDIO present BOYS CLUB, curated by Martin Butler and Giorgio Bartoli. The exhibition “Boys Club” is a group exhibition combining video, photography, fashion and performance that takes a fresh view on the portrayal of the adolescent male in contemporary society. The Dutch photographers Joost Vandebrug and Bart Julius Peters, the Canadian artist Kyle Tryhorn, the young French photographer Florent Routoulp / Chocolat_Poire and Korean fashion designer Hyun Yeu, represent several generations from three continents that all share elements of this fascination within their work.
Some times nostalgic, sometimes romantic, sometimes explicit, sometimes dealing with the reality of the struggle of redefining identity during the transition from boyhood to manhood, but always engaging. “Boys Club” is an homage to that fleeting moment of the blossoming, the blossoming that exists for the shortest time…
“Uncage the colours
Unfurl the flag
Luck just kissed you hello
When you’re a boy
Boys keep swinging
Boys always work it out” David Bowie
A story published on the skin of 2095 volunteers. By Shelley Jackson.
“Each participant must agree to have one word of the story tattooed upon his or her body. The text will be published nowhere else, and the author will not permit it to be summarized, quoted, described, set to music, or adapted for film, theater, television or any other medium. The full text will be known only to participants, who may, but need not choose to establish communication with one another. In the event that insufficiant participants come forward to complete the first and only edition of the story, the incomplete version will be considered definitive.”

“Victoria Bartlett is significant because she thinks not just about the way a woman might look, but about the ways that women might dress. Her work flows from a profound comprehension that clothes are like another layer of skin–an exoskeleton that can be layered on or off to suit the purpose of the day, or the moment. She resists the easy categorization of underpinnings vs. apparel, activewear vs. daywear, and so on, and in so doing, seems to me to see into the future of style.”
Dopolavoro Golab will be universal but not superficial, it will be everyone's but it won't be owned by the mass, it will be for those who want to play seriously, it will be for the fearless, and for all those who want to dwell even if ever so briefly, in the joyful and fascinating cradle of a normal vanguard.
