Artist Statement: ” Beyond literal photography, I believe in stories. I have always found it interesting how placing someone in a space in a certain way can inspire a narrative. My main interest lies in the relationship that is created between a figure and its surroundings, and I am particularly drawn to quiet moments when everything seems still “.
Aren’t these photographs products of modern soft-hyperrealism? Still frames of a David Lynch movie yet to come.

” I always had this nightmare of aging without realising it was happening, to just realise one day how time has slipped out of my hands and that I’m late. I came to New York to see whether I can become what I think I am. If I won’t make it I will have learnt who I am and will finally be at peace.

L’Officiel Hommes Italia says: Babydisco

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Babydisco press review on L’Officiel Hommes Italia: ” An only-for-kids project in Milan’s Dopolavoro gallery. The installation was conceived with the aim to stimulate the child towards new multisensorial experiences, based upon the interaction with sound, colours and lights to be lived as an extension of his innate desire to play. A multicoloured disco ball, djs dressed up as rabbits, shiny stars and games flavoured by music, all had an essential role in entertaining the little ones, who happily free from parents and babysitters, had the chance to enjoy the exhilerating experience of a baby version of clubbing. An invitation and a stimulus to take advantage of the educational potential of music united with artistic creativity”. Susanna Cucco

Alice in Wonderland 1903

Monday, March 8th, 2010

A silent film directed by Cecil Hepworth and Percy Stow and the first movie adaption based on Lewis Carroll’s book. Only one copy of the original film exists to date, and parts of it are lost. The British Film Institute has partially managed to restore the movie and its original colours. To actually imagine the use of special effects and vanguard techniques over 100 years old is incredible. This is truly a 9 minute wonder!

Boys Club at D/L

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

DOPOLAVORO GOLAB & ERA STUDIO present BOYS CLUB, curated by Martin Butler and Giorgio Bartoli. The exhibition “Boys Club” is a group exhibition combining video, photography, fashion and performance that takes  a fresh view on the portrayal of the adolescent male in contemporary society. The Dutch photographers Joost Vandebrug and  Bart Julius Peters,  the Canadian artist  Kyle Tryhorn, the young French photographer Florent Routoulp / Chocolat_Poire and Korean fashion designer Hyun Yeu, represent several generations from three continents that all share  elements of this fascination within their work.
Some times nostalgic, sometimes romantic, sometimes explicit,  sometimes dealing with the reality of the struggle of  redefining identity during the transition from boyhood to manhood,  but always engaging. “Boys Club” is an homage to  that  fleeting moment of  the blossoming, the blossoming that exists for the shortest time…

“Uncage the colours
Unfurl the flag
Luck just kissed you hello
When you’re a boy
Boys keep swinging
Boys always work it out”

David Bowie
