..is the princess of visual translations. Everything she conceives in her head is then physically produced by her meticulous hands, sprinkled over with humour, and then left to live a life of its own for the whole world to see. For more; gravitate towards www.sarahillenberger.com

This year shiny metal studs are pretty fashionable indeed, so why not use them to create an original and stylish gift box? Go here for the tutorial by “PS – I made this…“. The site is a call to action to re-imagine, re-use, and re-invent. Loving it!

The Skin Project

Immagine 1

A story published on the skin of 2095 volunteers. By Shelley Jackson.

“Each participant must agree to have one word of the story tattooed upon his or her body. The text will be published nowhere else, and the author will not permit it to be summarized, quoted, described, set to music, or adapted for film, theater, television or any other medium. The full text will be known only to participants, who may, but need not choose to establish communication with one another. In the event that insufficiant participants come forward to complete the first and only edition of the story, the incomplete version will be considered definitive.”

Drinking & Drawing #7

Drinking and Drawing High Quality from fredseibert on Vimeo.

Animators + Animations = Drawing Jam Session, that’s what this is all about. A group of 10 animators is called up to the drawing area. Each animator receives 8 blank note cards, as well as the last card from the animator that drew before them. They have exactly 10 minutes (that’s 75 seconds a card) to continue the animation on each card. At the end of the night you have a short film created by dozens of animators! Above: the Bikini Zombies Drinking & Drawing episode produced by Frederator Studios.

postboxes
Over 6000 pictures representing what we commonly know as the typical Post Box, all around the UK. A sort of online catalogue brought to us by a dedicated group on Flickr. The most striking aspect results in the variety of coat of arms and letterings of the reigning monarchs from Victoria to Elizabeth. Just a way of seeing how styles evolve through time and how logos appear to be the simplest form of expression even way back in the old days.

The slogan on the 3M site says “So express yourself in color”. The TO DO project by the NY based public art collaborative Illegal Art, literally  followed that claim by producing a series of creative public art expositions using post-its all the way.

pac-man-hothead

Come together all you high-school-ex-geekdolescents! Whether you know how to bake or not isn’t this post’s point. The point is: it could be the right pretext to start a new Dopolavoro because your helper will be funny, super-yellow, and practical. It will certainly give even your oldest grandma’s kitchen that extra touch of design coolness it needs. Hands up how many of you can bake?? Exactly, so buy it and start your Neo-Dopolavoro-baking-session now! http://welldressedhome.com/pacman.html

Colourful Contrails

Starlifter contrail

Bike contrail

Short for ‘condensation trails’ of condensed water vapour left behind by the exhaust of aircraft engines, this concept has been elaborated to create a new tool that’s progressively spreading thanks to its utility: “As you ride, contrail leaves a faint chalk line behind your bike[..] The goal is to encourage a new cycle of biking participation by allowing the biking community to leave a unique mark on the road and to reclaim this crucial shared space. [Contrail] reminds bikers where it’s safe to ride –> new bikers are encouraged to ride and use contrail –> contrail lines get brighter as community grows”.
